My name is Patrick O’Donnell, born to Scottish parents in the Netherlands.
My first love is the sport of Rugby, especially the mental aspect of rugby has developed me into the person I am today. Teamwork, respect, friendships and getting up after you fall down.
In 2011 I started the physiotherapie course in Amsterdam, and loved learning about how the human body works. Next to studying physiotherapy I decided to get my NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer degree. Unfortunatly in 2013 I got diagnosed with a auto-immuun disease of the digestive system called Ulcerative Colitis. Which lead me to drop out of school.
The doctors told me I would have to deal with it for the rest of my life.
In the summer of 2015 it was decided I would need multiple surgeries to prevent the disease from getting out of control. The surgeries changed my life. In februari 2016 the doctors told my I was healed and didn’t have to go back to the hospital ever again.
I developed my coaching skills through working with youth players and ladies team at the rugby club. A month after my last surgery I started running the strength and conditioning program with young talent at my rugby club.
The focus being getting better every workout.
Analysing weak points and improving upon them is the way forward, struggling with diet? Let’s sort that out first, struggling with lower back problems? Let’s sort that out first.
Improving weak points, improving life.
I like working with a wide variety of clients, from athletes to people who want to improve there lifestyle. It’s great the Vondelgym provides an enviroment where people of all types thrive.
Spreading my knowledge amongst clients and trainers alike is what I enjoy most about my work.
