After having danced professionally at the highest level for almost 20 years in some of the most prestigious classical companies worldwide, The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Vienna and Dutch National Ballet where I was a soloist for 12 years. I decided to retire.
I was very fortunate in my career as I was able to perform all the roles I had ever wanted and to work with some of the foremost choreographer to date, Forsythe, Wheeldon, Dawson, Van Manen. However my career was not without its difficulties and I suffered numerous injuries and issues. During these times I would ask myself not why this happened to me but how I could recover faster from these things and return stronger.
This led me on a voyage of discovery into the world of health, nutrition and fitness. I took many courses from Poliquin to C.H.E.K, Ido portal, International Society of Sports Nutrition, Active Release Technique, as well as many others to finally enrolling into a Msc Dance Science degree.
With this knowledge I was able to train and nourish myself correctly, which helped me return to dance and finish my career on top.
This, in turn, led me to be able to help others which is a real passion of mine and at present, I am the strength and conditioning coach for the Dutch National Ballet and am frequently asked for consults by dancers worldwide.
I train a wide variety of clients outside of the ballet in the gym environment and my knowledge of movement allows me to bring something different to their training giving them whatever it is that they may need.
